Excess Workers Compensation

Marsh works with several insurance companies to place excess workers compensation  coverage to qualified WCIA self-insured members.  

Program Overview

A workers’ compensation excess insurance policy is written to indemnify the self-insured employer for workers’ compensation claims (and Employers’ Liability claims) exceeding a designated dollar amount. The excess work comp insurance covers all work comp losses up to a specified cap, or it can be based on applicable state statutory limits.

The employer must be a qualified self-insurer in the state for which coverage applies.

Eligibility

All members who are qualified self-insurers for workers compensation are eligible.

Policy Details

Several insurance companies offer excess workers compensation to qualified self-insureds.  Marsh can access these insurers on WCIA member’s behalf to negotiate the most cost effective and comprehensive program.

Cost

A fully completed application is require in order to secure a quote.  Determining factors for cost include but are not limited to:

  1. Estimated annual worker hours or payroll
  2. Concentration of employees in any single location
  3. Historical claims
