After purchasing your product liability insurance policy, please allow up to two business days to receive your policy documents.
Amazon requires all third-party sellers to obtain product liability insurance after reaching $10,000 in sales in one month via Amazon’s US marketplace. Not only is this insurance a standard requirement, but it is also an important safety net for every Amazon seller, regardless of monthly sales.
Product liability insurance protects your business by helping to cover the cost of claims and legal fees if a customer states a product you sold on Amazon’s website is defective and caused bodily harm or property damage to someone else’s belongings. Knowing that you are adequately insured and that your small business is well-poised to handle unexpected legal fees and expenses is essential.
To help sellers more quickly and affordably secure product liability insurance, Marsh and Amazon curated a panel of leading insurers of small commercial businesses and secured digital insurance distribution providers to help create the Amazon Insurance Accelerator. Here are a few advantages of obtaining coverage through this network.
To start your application for commercial product liability insurance, visit the Business Insurance page within Amazon Seller Central and click on the “Compare Quotes” button within the Marsh tile. Note that if you are not already logged into Seller Central on your device, you will be prompted to do so to access the Business Insurance page.
Once you click the “Compare Quotes” button, you will be directed to a tailored insurance application where you’ll be required to answer questions about yourself and your business.
By completing one application, you can receive quotes from up to three leading insurance companies that each provide coverage that adheres to Amazon’s specific insurance requirements.
According to Section 9 of the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement, sellers are required to purchase commercial product liability insurance within 30 days of generating over $10,000 in monthly sales on Amazon.com or if Amazon explicitly requests proof of insurance. Amazon has outlined specific requirements that your policy should adhere to.
To easily ensure that your policy adheres to Amazon’s guidelines, purchase a policy via the Amazon Insurance Accelerator.
Regardless of your monthly revenue, having product liability coverage can safeguard your bottom line and promote long-term success and reputational stability in the competitive Amazon marketplace.
After purchasing your product liability insurance policy, please allow up to two business days to receive your policy documents.
If you have already added a certificate of insurance (COI) to your Amazon Seller Central account, please follow these steps on the Business Insurance page.
If you still need help, please contact Marsh at amazonsellers@marsh.com.
Your product liability insurance policy purchased through Marsh may provide coverage that extends to e-commerce websites outside of Amazon.com.
We recommend contacting the insurance carrier you bought your policy from directly to confirm, as they can provide you with more specific information and guidance based on their underwriting criteria.
