Eligibility for aircraft hull & liability coverage

Are you cleared for takeoff?

To qualify for coverage, you must meet the following requirements:

 

Pilot eligibility

  • Your primary residence must be in Canada.
  • Pilots must hold the appropriate licence or permit for the aircraft they are operating.

 

Aircraft eligibility

  • Your aircraft must be privately registered in Canada and intended for recreational purposes, as well as personal business and pleasure. The only exception is if you purchased a US-registered aircraft and need to ferry it to Canada while it still bears a US registration.
  • Your aircraft must not exceed a maximum seating capacity of seven passengers, excluding the pilot.
  • Your aircraft’s hull value does not exceed CA$1,500,000.
  • Your aircraft has a permissible takeoff weight of no more than 5,670 kilograms (12,500 pounds).
  • Your aircraft is not classified as a basic ultralight, balloon, airship, glider, motor glider, hang glider, paraglider, hovercraft, unmanned air vehicle, or very light jet (VLJ).

  • Long-EZ and VariEze (all variants)
  • Mitchell-Procter Kittiwake
  • Mustang II
  • Seabee
  • SeaRey
  • Seawind
  • Stolp Starduster
  • Super Petrel
  • Thurston TSC (all variants)
  • Warbird (i.e., ex-military aircraft)
  • Wittman Tailwind
